Katie & Matt | Spring Valley Wedding

8836_04 copy

When I first talked with Katie and her mom, they were completely open about their wedding planning struggles and being slightly frazzled with it all. Katie had just moved away to join Matt at a job in their new town and was trying to plan their big day from afar and Matt’s sole focus was getting on their feet in this new place, both very much consumed with the preparation of what matters most — beginning their life together. I realized this was reality; this was them. In the midst of the chaos that seems unavoidable in this life and the beauty and excitement new love brings… this was them. I treasured the time that Katie so willingly allowed me a glimpse into their lives to help her orchestrate their special day and the ins and outs as it all came together. Though I shared time with both of them, the very first time I was actually able to see Matt and Katie together was their first look on their wedding day, and wow, was that incredible. I noticed foremost that Katie and Matt spent the entire day hand in hand, staying close at the other’s side and finding pure joy in seeing and sharing in all of these precious little moments through each others eyes. These two are so full of adoring love.

Meagan & Brantley | Plantation Engagement

6389_03

The first time I sat down with Meagan and Brantley to chat about their upcoming wedding plans, I knew these two were perfect for each other. The subtle yet giddy, adoring glances between the two were inevitable from the moment I began asking questions about the story of how they met. When it came time to plan their engagement, I knew I had to capture their free, fun-loving style; character traits they both undeniably have in common. Looking back through these images, I can literally feel the soft wind that blew through the trees and the smell of the fresh blooms of Spring as we ventured about this breathtaking plantation.

Laney + Cody | Santa Rosa Destination Engagement

000033370001

“Run your fingers through my soul
For once, just once,
Feel exactly what I feel,
Believe what I believe,
Perceive as I perceive,
Look, experience, examine,
And for once, just once,
Understand.”
– Unknown

These two have been spending several years apart as Cody serves in the military, but come October, this long distance relationship will finally be unified and made whole. Laney and Cody are currently planning for their elegant fall ceremony and I couldn’t be more ecstatic for them. It is such a blessing to be able to celebrate with them during this special time and witness their inspirational strength and growth, individually and as a couple.

There will always be something about distance and adoration entwined that reveals a tender yet tenacious heart.

These two have a story that truly represents that sweet southern love. They met at a local rodeo and Cody took her back to that same Agriculture Complex to ask her for forever.

Did I mention this pretty lady is sister? What a stunner!

I think there are worlds inside all of us
contained only tenuously by the soft covers of skin

The green in your eyes is alight with the sun
and I realize
yours is the most beautiful world
I’ve ever the privilege to touch

She Walks in Beauty | Part 2

courtneywoodhamphotography_18

Inspired by the poem She Walks in Beauty written by Lord Byron, this styled session is my heart, put it into visible and breathtaking form. As a whole, this session allowed me to capture images seeming to hold the same values and characteristics in their depths that I have based my business upon and in. The deep purples brought just the right amount of contrast to the soft ocean waves and clean, simplistic style of Rosemary’s streets. When the breeze coming off the ocean caught the overlay of Piper’s Jenny Yoo gown, the results were pure magic. A focal point of this session was to stretch and push the walls of our typical comfort zone and play with light and shadows… really creating details when faced with situations where details are few and far between. And toward the end of the day, we waited; we waited on the rich beautiful tones and glow from the Florida sunset and just before the sun went behind the horizon, we captured it in all its illuminating glory.

“She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellow’d to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o’er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!”

-Lord Byron
